The two-day conference includes 13 sessions on legal developments of critical importance to charities and other nonprofit organizations. The conference features an array of prominent tax-exemption experts including officials from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS, plus prominent West Coast lawyers and accountants.

The 26th annual conference is organized by Ellen Aprill, a WCTEO founder and the John E. Anderson Chair in Tax Law Emerita at LMU Loyola Law School, and Jill Horwitz, the David Sanders Professor of Law and Medicine at UCLA School of Law and the inaugural Faculty Director of UCLA Law’s new Program on Philanthropy and Nonprofits.

This year’s schedule includes the following sessions:

  • Washington Update
  • Attorney General Developments: Platform Regulations and Other Current Issues
  • Working with the IRS Post-Pandemic
  • Keynote by David Callahan, Founder and Editor, Inside Philanthropy
  • Charitability: New Purposes and Old Law
  • Accounting Update: What EO Practitioners Need to Know
  • Using Endowments during Crises
  • Hot Topics Power Hour
  • Advocacy and Politics – Should Your Nonprofit Get More Involved?
  • International Grants and Investments – Challenges and Best Practices
  • Private Foundations Hot Topics
  • Trust Me, I’m a Fiduciary: A Modern Perspective on Traditional Duties

NEO Law Group’s Erin Bradrick will be a panelist on Working with the IRS Post-Pandemic session, and I’ll be joining the Trust Me, I’m a Fiduciary panel. As an alum of UCLA Law, I’m tremendously excited about the new Program on Philanthropy and Nonprofits and its participation in the WCTEO. This should be a great event!
